Description of Event: The highly acclaimed Lexington native Tim LeBeau offers a combination of Christmas songs and the Southern gospel songs that he sings professionally. His friend and fellow gospel musician, nationally-known saxophonist Dennis Sparks, usually appears with LeBeau. People begin lining up outside the Civic Theater sometime in the afternoon in order to have a better choice of seats.

History of Site/Event: LeBeau travels 30-50,000 miles each year singing Southern gospel music. Early on, at times when he was home and ran into people around town, they always mentioned how much they missed having the opportunity to hear him sing. So in the mid 1990s, LeBeau decided to do a Christmas show to give something back to his home community. Recently, his son has joined the show. The first year, 700 people attended, and the show has sold our every year since then, even though according to LeBeau, the audience changes each year.

Description of Site/Facility:
The Edward C. Smith Civic Center in Lexington was originally the Carolina Theater built in 1948. The facility seats 1,100 and gracefully combines original ornate Art Deco wall designs with state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems and a hydraulic orchestra pit.

Significance of Site/Event to the Community:
Tim LeBeau initiated his Christmas show gift to Lexington and Davidson County as a response to the community's direct request.
