Show Name: CAROLINA LIVE!—Our Musical History
Age Range: K - 8th grade
Features: many music styles, sing-alongs, audience participation, slideshow
Cast: Comprised of some of the best professional musicians in North Carolina, the cast has five musicians, two singers, and one narrator. The Moravian Brass Quartet adds four extra musicians.
Music Styles: The show features Jazz, Bluegrass, Blues, Gospel, Old-time Stringband, Rhythm & Blues, and Moravian Brass. (For information on these music styles, CLICK HERE.)
Content: A high-energy musical revue, CAROLINA LIVE! —Our Musical History features the music of North Carolina music icons John Coltrane, Doc Watson, the Salem Band, Blind Boy Fuller, Shirley Caesar, Tommy Jarrell, Nina Simone, and the "5" Royales. Music Class Visit: Bassist/Music Director Matt Kendrick is available to visit a music class after the school show.
Curriculum: Enhancing the school show are lessons created by educators and aligned with North Carolina Standards for Music, English/Language Arts, and Social Studies.
Tech: Our technical director supplies equipment and requires minimal assistance.
